Our purpose as a company:

ChemFinity Technologies was created to make a more equitable future by eliminating pollution and circularizing natural resources. We develop molecularly selective materials that help alleviate the most impactful environmental issues related to water purification, critical mineral recovery, and gas separations. A startup spun out of UC Berkeley’s College of Chemistry in 2022, ChemFinity is backed by the Breakthrough Energy Fellows program, USAID, and Conservation X Labs.

  • You will be synthesizing new materials using various lab techniques (e.g., air-free chemistry)
  • You will be performing materials characterizations on the produced materials
  • You will be optimizing synthesis process conditions toward high quality, high yields, and low costs
  • You will be analyzing data from lab experiments and preparing weekly/monthly technical reports

Skills we prefer for this role:

You are an outstanding scientist with experience in chemical synthesis. You have expertise in material manufacturing and hands-on experience working with large-scale reactors, purification equipment, analysis of characterization data, and experimental documentation of the results.

  • You have a Doctorate or Master’s degree in chemistry, engineering, material science, or related field with 3+ years of industry experience in material synthesis/manufacturing, or
  • You have a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, engineering, material science, or other related field with 8+ years of industry experience in material synthesis/manufacturing
  • You have hands-on experience in developing new synthetic processes
  • You have a strong understanding of organic chemistry and industry limitations
  • You have an unwavering commitment to high safety standards and supportive work behavior

What we expect from you in this role:

You will be our first scale-up chemist. We expect you to make significant impact in developing our synthetic capabilities to scale our materials from the lab to industrial multi-kilogram scale. To accomplish these goals, you will work directly with the co-founders and early research team and have the opportunity to contribute to all parts of our research and development projects.

Why you should join us in this role:
