Mantel is developing the first molten-salt-based carbon capture technology which is designed to operate at the high temperatures found inside boilers, kilns, and furnaces – enabling highly efficient carbon capture that has not been possible until now. Carbon capture can be applied across industries to reduce emissions and achieve net-negative emissions. By solving for efficiency Mantel can cut costs substantially, unlocking carbon capture’s role in reaching net zero emissions by 2050. To learn more, go to: https://www.mantelcapture.com/

Mantel is seeking a Plant Performance Process Engineer to join a promising carbon capture startup working on the development of molten salts as a novel CO2 sorbent material. This role combines process engineering expertise with plant performance optimization to design, build, commission, and operate Mantel’s first-of-a-kind systems. The Engineer will collaborate with Mantel’s engineers and partner EPCs to perform process modeling, including the development and validation of process and system operation models to support demonstration plant scale-up and transition to commercial systems. Responsibilities include extensive hands-on onsite process support, equipment sizing/costing, identification of data gaps, and validation testing needs. The Engineer will also work with Mantel’s senior design engineers to conduct process analysis/calculation/modeling, specify equipment (including component sizing and data sheet review), create and optimize startup/shutdown procedures, and coordinate cross-discipline efforts with Mantel’s R&D team. • Strong background in safe plant operation, industrial safety, and process hazard analysis

  • Thorough understanding of US engineering standards, engineering drawings, P&IDs, equipment specifications, DCS controls, and engineering commissioning/operating procedures

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with HAZOPs, HAZIDs, and LOPA analysis work is a plus

  • Experience with starting and debugging first-of-a-kind systems is a plus

  • Carbon Capture Experience

  • Experience with molten salt systems, steam methane reformers (SMRs), or other high-temperature process systems
