Position Overview
As a Process Technician at Queens Carbon, you will maintain, operate, and improve pilot manufacturing equipment and processes related to the manufacturing of novel cements and supplementary cementitious materials. In this role, you will primarily work with the Product Development team to plan and execute production campaigns, ensure and improve process reliability, and contribute to process optimization efforts. You will also work with the Engineering team to fabricate components, modify process equipment, conduct preventative maintenance, and support facility improvement projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Operate pilot-scale equipment safely and efficiently according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and experimental protocols.
- Monitor process variables, record data, and respond to alarms or deviations.
- Prepare equipment and materials for experimental runs, including setup, calibration, and cleaning.
- Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) and basic troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation components.
- Identify opportunities for process optimization and equipment improvements, including safety, efficiency, and ease of operation.
- Maintain records of equipment performance, maintenance, modifications. Document sampling events and sample submissions for quality assurance testing.
- Collaborate with internal and external Engineering resources to fabricate, install, and evaluate process modifications.
Requirements
The job is performed in a hands-on work environment. The employee must have the ability to sit, stand, walk and lift 35 pounds unassisted or more than 35 pounds assisted. The employee must be able to communicate well in both verbal and written means and use fine motor skills to operate a computer, make measurements and control equipment/machinery.
- Associate degree or technical certification in mechanical, chemical, industrial, or process technology or equivalent work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in a process technician or operator role in a pilot plant, lab, or manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with pumps, valves, pressure vessels, instrumentation, and control systems.
- Hands-on experience in areas such as machining, piping, equipment maintenance, and basic electrical work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret and follow technical documentation.
- Ability to work full-time and in-person at our lab in Pine Brook NJ.
- A great team-focused attitude, and a willingness to teach and learn from others.
