About RenewCO2
RenewCO2 makes carbon-negative chemicals and fuels. Our electrocatalytic CO2 utilization technology runs on electricity, water, and waste CO2, and the product drops straight into existing industrial supply chains. Because the process is energy-efficient, our cost structure competes with fossil-derived incumbents rather than relying on a green premium.
We are venture-backed, and we have won grant funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Foundation, DARPA, the New Jersey Commission on Science, Innovation and Technology, and Breakthrough Energy, among others. The technology is demonstrated at pilot scale with customers, and we are now building toward commercial scale.
The company started in the United States, where most of our R&D is executed, while product development and manufacturing happen in India.
Our customers are chemical, fuel, and materials producers across Asia, Europe, and North and Latin America. Your work has to hold up for a procurement team in Rotterdam, a process engineer in Houston, and a plant manager in Gujarat, not just one of them.
This role is based in Chikkaballapur, Karnataka, at Ohmium International, which builds green hydrogen electrolyzers at a gigafactory there. RenewCO2 has a joint development agreement with Ohmium: working beside a partner that already makes electrochemical stacks at volume shortens our path to manufacturing at scale.
The role
You will be the only designer at the company. Everything RenewCO2 puts in front of a customer, a partner, an investor, or a government reviewer passes through you: investor and capability decks, product one-pagers and spec sheets, the website, booths and signage, social assets, technical diagrams, report layouts, and the brand system holding it all together.
The hard part is not production. It is turning engineering reality into something a non-specialist understands and a specialist cannot pick apart. You will take a rough sketch, a CAD screenshot, or an Excel chart from an engineer and produce a figure that is accurate first and beautiful second.
You will also art-direct outside help. We are not building an in-house studio, so you will brief and manage illustrators, 3D artists, videographers, exhibit fabricators, and printers, and hold their work to our standard.
What you will do
Decks and sales collateral
• Design investor, partner, and capability decks end to end, including the dense technical slides. Those are the hard ones and they matter most.
• Build PowerPoint and Google Slides template systems with working masters, layouts, and theme colors that non-designers cannot easily break.
• Produce one-pagers, spec sheets, technical FAQs, and leave-behinds that fit real content into a fixed page.
Technical illustration and data visualization
• Draw process flow diagrams, system schematics, equipment cutaways, and plant layouts from engineering source material, checking accuracy with our technical team.
• Build charts from raw data: cost curves, comparison bars, mass and energy flow diagrams, with correct axes, correct units, and honest scales.
• Prepare figures for conference posters, technical papers, and government reports to the conventions those audiences expect.
Website
• Design and build pages in our CMS, and own the updates, with turnaround measured in hours.
• Hold the line on responsive layout, page performance, on-page SEO hygiene, and accessibility to WCAG 2.1 AA including color contrast.
Brand system
• Keep and evolve the RenewCO2 brand system: logo use, typography, color, icons, diagram and chart styles, photography direction, document templates.
• Maintain a component and template library, and an asset library organized well enough that other people find things in it.
Social, campaigns, and events
• Produce social and campaign assets, mostly for LinkedIn: statics, carousels, short motion pieces, event promotion.
• Design booths, banners, signage, and large-format graphics, and take them through print production and installation by our fabrication vendors.
Vendor art direction
• Write the brief, pick the vendor, and manage illustrators, 3D and CGI artists, video crews, exhibit fabricators, and print shops to schedule, budget, and quality.
• Review proofs, renders, and cuts, and give feedback specific enough to act on.
What we need to see in your portfolio
We read portfolios closely, and we care more about problem-solving than polish. Include these, and note what you personally did:
• A deck you designed end to end, not a template you filled. Show us the densest technical slide in it.
• A technical illustration you built from an engineer's rough sketch, a CAD screenshot, or a photograph: a process flow diagram, a system schematic, or an equipment cutaway.
• Charts you built yourself from raw data, with a note on where the data came from.
• A one-pager or spec sheet where real technical content, including a table, had to fit a fixed page.
• A website you designed and shipped, with a live link.
• A brand or template system you maintained that other people used correctly without you in the room.
Required qualifications
• Four to seven years designing in-house or at an agency, with real work for B2B, industrial, engineering, energy, or scientific clients. Consumer-only and social-only portfolios will not fit.
• Figma at an expert level: components, variants, auto-layout, and shared libraries other people build from.
• Illustrator for vector and technical illustration, InDesign for multi-page and print-ready layout, Photoshop for image work.
• Real mastery of PowerPoint and Google Slides. A large share of what we send out is a deck, and engineers will edit it after you hand it over.
• You can design and build in Webflow, WordPress, or something comparable, and you understand responsive layout, basic HTML and CSS, image optimization, on-page SEO, and WCAG 2.1 AA.
• Print production beyond exporting a PDF: CMYK against RGB, Pantone matching, bleed and safe areas, resolution for large-format booth graphics, packaging files for a printer, and checking a physical proof.
• You have art-directed outside vendors. You wrote the brief, picked the partner, held the schedule and budget, and gave feedback that improved the work.
• You can work with engineers and scientists. You ask the clarifying question, you respect what the data says, and you never make a diagram prettier at the cost of making it wrong.
• Disciplined file management: naming conventions, versioning, one source of truth. Sound handling of unpublished technical material under NDA.
• Strong typography and layout judgment, plus the ability to explain a decision in plain language to people who do not speak design.
• Fluent written and spoken English. Kannada or Hindi helps with local print and fabrication vendors.
Strongly preferred
• 3D visualization for equipment, skid, and plant renders in Blender, KeyShot, or SolidWorks Visualize.
• Motion design for short explainers and animated diagrams in After Effects or Rive.
• Familiarity with scientific figure conventions, and experience preparing figures for journals, conference posters, or government technical reports.
• Photography and video on site, in the lab and on the factory floor, including basic lighting and editing.
• Illustration range wide enough to define a visual language rather than borrow one.
• Front-end comfort past HTML and CSS, or experience with design tokens in a code base.
• Time at an early-stage company where you set the standard instead of inheriting it.
What success looks like in six months
• A deck and document template system in active use, with fewer off-brand files circulating each month.
• A refreshed website you can update yourself, quickly, without outside help.
• A library of accurate, reusable diagrams and charts that the commercial and technical teams pull from instead of rebuilding.
• A short vendor bench for print, illustration, 3D, and video, with known costs and lead times.
Location, working pattern, and compensation
Hybrid: two days a week on site in Chikkaballapur, the rest wherever you work best. A company shuttle runs from Bengaluru, so you do not have to relocate or drive the corridor yourself.
Compensation: ₹12–15 lakh fixed CTC, plus equity and benefits. No travel, though an extra on-site day sometimes comes up around a booth build or a print review.
What to submit
• A portfolio link or a PDF under 20 MB covering the six items above. Password-protected is fine, and include the password.
• Annotation on every piece: what you designed, built, or art-directed, and what a team, an agency, or a vendor did. If it is unannotated we will assume the least.
• For two projects, a few lines on the brief, the real constraint you worked against, and one decision you would make differently now.
• A live link to a website you designed, with a note on what you designed against what you built.
• Willingness to open a native file later in the process, whether a Figma library, an Illustrator diagram, an InDesign document, or a PowerPoint template, and walk us through how it is put together. Construction matters as much as output.
Do not send confidential or NDA-covered client work. Redact it or describe it. We will not ask you for unpaid spec work, and any exercise later in the process gets scoped and paid.
