Role Overview
WattAir is seeking a full-time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the company’s technical, operational, and commercial execution. This role combines executive leadership with hands-on technical oversight in an early-stage climate technology company.
The CEO will guide product development, oversee pilot programs, manage strategic partnerships, and lead fundraising and company operations. The position reports to the Chair of the Board or designated employment supervisor.
Key Responsibilities
Lead technical strategy and product development for atmospheric water harvesting and sorbent-based thermal systems
Oversee prototype design, testing, validation, and performance optimization
Manage project planning, budgets, suppliers, and manufacturing partners
Drive customer discovery, pilot deployments, and strategic partnerships
Prepare and present materials for investors, grant agencies, and stakeholders
Oversee company operations, compliance, and internal processes
Represent the company at industry meetings, conferences, and partner engagements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science/Engineering, Thermal/Fluids Engineering, or a closely related field (or equivalent practical experience)
Strong understanding of heat and mass transfer, thermodynamics, HVAC/refrigeration, and related thermal systems
Experience leading technical programs or product development efforts in hardware, energy, or water technology environments
Demonstrated leadership, communication, and cross-functional management skills
Work Environment
This is a mobile, hybrid role involving office work, partner facilities, and pilot sites. Occasional travel is required.
